July 2010

‘produced for Reps, Activists and interested parties’

The views expressed in this publication are not necessarily the views of the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG UK)

Editorial

I’m leading this edition with a statement from the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Transport, Mike Penning, issued on the 8th June announcing a review of the motorcycle test which, as we all know, is long overdue.

It would appear common sense has prevailed and all the hard work up to now has resulted in a Consultation where views must be submitted by 31 July with a decision expected in the Autumn.

Included in this edition you will see a small feature on “On Two Wheels Urban Bike Show” in the West Midlands which is encouraging 16-19 year olds.  Motorcycling needs younger riders, MAG needs new riders.  What a unique opportunity for a MAG Stand.  This is taking place on the 18th July  at St Andrews Stadiumhttp://www.woib.co.uk/event.php?eventid=10008801&dateid=8406872.

So, the leading light behind the Westminster bike parking charge has resigned from his post.  Good news.  The question is: ‘did he jump or was he pushed?’

Reps/Groups/Anyone(!) – if you’re active and lobbying/in-discussion locally drop me a line for Network.  Despite my continuing pleas each month for relevant copy to encourage other parts of the country to become active through reading about what you’re doing locally, the response has been extremely disappointing (polite version).  What’s a girl to do?  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it subject: Network – go on, you know you want to.

However, just as I say that, good news in from Rory Wilson regarding bike parking in Aberystwyth.  Thanks Rory – just the sort of thing to inspire other areas around the Country and congratulations.

Please pass on to your Groups/any interested party that if they want MAG Products to use the link on the MAG UK web-site.

Do not use a search engine with magmerchandise, it is not a Motorcycle Action Group products outlet and there is a possibility a bug may be picked up depending upon your protection.  The site was discovered by a member.

I had hoped to include a bit on the High Court Action of NTBPT, however, at time of going to copy there is no further update.

Ride Free,  Anne Gale
