 I am holding a rally at my place which is about half an hour away from Cadwell Park on the last weekend in September to coincide with the “BEARS” meeting to be held at Cadwell Park.

There will be free camping for anyone who so wishes and a breakfast laid on by my wife – if there are vast numbers I can get the local pub to open for breakfast (although not a freebie).

Things to do

Most people will want to go to Cadwell for the racing, but, for those not wishing to go – there is plenty to do around here. The Aviation Heritage Museum at East Kirkby (open Saturday) and The Bubble Car Museum are nearby. The upmarket resort of Skegness is only 20 miles away! There is fishing in the river by our house and we’ve got a couple of Kayaks that could be used – both subject to weather and river conditions.

STOP PRESS - track parade with Piero Laverda

A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to arrange a Laverda only parade to accompany Piero Laverda on Austen Kear’s BEARS championship winning Barcelona 500.

Any fully road legal Laverda motorcycle and rider (under 70 years of age) can take part in this event. This is not a race and no-one should feel intimidated by the thought of being on a race track.

This is a “once in a lifetime” opportunity for ILOC members and should not be missed – what a photo opportunity too! There will be a fee of £15 payable to the Vintage Motor Cycle Club (the same club that organises the Festival of 1000 Bikes). A decent set of leathers etc and a good condition road going Laverda will be required.

Anyone interested in this parade should contact Phil Todd with their name and address and he will post the VMCC application form to you. Could you please also let him know what machine and its year you will be riding.

Please note that the closing date for the VMCC is Sept 8th – but Phil needs to know NOW if you are participating. He doesn’t want to pay to send out forms to anyone who may change their mind – as all profits from the whole weekend are going entirely to the Racing Fund.

Evening presentation

On the Saturday evening a meal is included at the local pub – then back here for a presentation by Piero Laverda.  

Piero is an accomplished speaker and the presentation will be most interesting.  There will be opportunity for questions and informal discussion afterwards.

Camping

Anyone wishing to camp here can do so from Friday evening to Monday morning – there is plenty of space for both car and motorcycle parking – but facilities will be limited to a cold tap and a loo!  For those wishing to stay in a B&B or hotel - there are plenty in the area – a short list will be supplied with the tickets. There are also plenty of caravan sites locally.
